Better quality of life for cardiac patients
A new portable, textile support system provides continuous monitoring and treatment for patients at risk of cardiac disease. The optimised cut-out design which is suited for daily use and which can easily be worn for days on end on the body, includes an integrated defibrillator system which can be triggered in an emergency.

USA: CPSC position paper on children's sleepwear
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) notified once again at the end of 2011 that any children's sleepwear to be sold in the USA must comply with the Flammable Fabrics Act (FFA), i.e. with Standard 16 C.F.R. Parts 1615 and 1616. This regulation includes all products which are primarily worn for sleeping, with the only exceptions being nappies and underwear.

OEKO-TEX Test Criteria 2012
The new requirements of the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 came definitely into force on 1 April. These regular re-assessments of test parameters are based on current market and product developments, new toxicological findings plus new statutory requirements, including in particular the consideration of the REACH legislation and the SVHC fabrics relevant for textile production added in 2011.

Test laboratory in Hong Kong works to European standards
Staff at the new Hohenstein Institute test laboratory in Hong Kong are working on chemical and physical materials testing in accordance with the same test instructions and the same state-of-the-art equipment as their colleagues in Germany.
In March it achieved the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
